Exploration Four: love

I chose this chapter because it was very interesting how strong love is many years after the war and Jimmy Cross still was in love with Martha. After he knew she did not fee the same way I couldn't understand why it at least didn't start to fade away. I started to believe he would never get over the woman I thought after they met back up in the Reunion that she would Finally feel the same way about him but I was sadly mistaken. Also in this chapter Jimmy still feels extremely responsible about Teds death. I feel responsible for a lot of things myself, my siblings, my job, my school work. In comparison to Lieutenant Cross I have it easy I couldn't handle the pressure of being responsible for the lives of a whole platoon. Responsibilities affect us in different ways for me it affects me in a good way such as keeping my priorities in order so I won't let anyone down. For Jimmy it wasn't so positive it left him with regret because he felt he let Jimmy down because he should have been more focused.

I believe that Jimmy did not need Martha to love him back. Martha represented something to live for. She represented everything that Jimmy had to stay alive for, and her pictures reminded him that he had a life back home that was not complete.

I felt sad reading the part of the reunion when he meet up with her again but she still did not love him like he loved her. I think its hard to have the responsiblity of other people under you, its a great deal of pressure that parents also have to deal with everyday.

I agree with the post above because he just had to believe that Martha loved him even though deep down he knew she most likely didn't. The picture's of love kept his mind on her and other part of his mind out of the war.

I really agree with you in this chapter because it was kind sad to see that he didnt have the love he wish he would have back from Martha in back home. He was real obssessed with her and i think that keept him a little bit more peacer than the other soldiers. i also think that is one of big reason he didnt die at war. Just looking at her picture all time make him not do stupid things like his members did. He wanted to go back home and have a relationship with Martha.

I feel like Jimmy wasted so much of his energy and love on a women who didn't care what he went through or how he felt about her. Its almost like a slap in the face to him. He stayed alive to go back and see her and she still did not love him. I think he shouldn't have worried about her in the firt place.
